TORONTO – Fan Expo has taken over the Metro Toronto Convention Centre where thousands will be gathering all weekend in elaborate costumes.
“Cosplay has exploded over the years, especially in the last three years, but this is the highest percentage we’ve seen,” said James Armstrong, Fan Expo event coordinator.
Adults and children are getting in the spirit this weekend, dressing up as their favourite hero or villain for the 20th anniversary of Fan Expo.

“I literally live it, I love everything, the celebrities, the comic books, it feel like home here,” said Fan Expo attendee Jason Pollard.
The celebrities are a huge draw, with 120,000 fans expected to go through the convention centre this weekend. Many of them will be lining up for hours just to meet their idols for a couple of minutes.
Along with the fans, it can be just as exciting for the celebrities. “I’ve seen fans tattoo their leg, and I’ve then signed it, and then they’ll tattoo my signature,” said Jeremy Shada who plays Finn on Adventure Time.
Celebrity sightings are just the beginning, with dozens of merchandise booths set up selling posters, clothing, and comic books.
Tickets are still available for Fan Expo which runs until Sunday night.
