MONTREAL – As the Lester B. Pearson School Board passed its budget Monday evening, it took the opportunity to criticize the provincial Liberal government‘s budget cuts to education.

In a news release, the board called the cuts “restrictive.”
The budget was balanced with just over $276.6 million in revenue for the current fiscal year, but the school board took a $13.5 million hit in cuts.
Government subsidies to the board were reduced by $3 million.

Similar to the English Montreal School Board, Lester B. Pearson also saw cuts to grants for students with special needs.
