Summary: This new riding sees Westmount, currently represented by Liberal Marc Garneau, joined with Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, represented by the NDP’s Isabelle Morin. Morin is re-offering in another riding, so Garneau is the only incumbent running here.
Boundaries: Along with Westmount and NDG, this riding also includes Montreal West.
Last Election: If these riding boundaries were in effect in 2011, the Liberals would have claimed 38.2 per cent of the vote, followed by the NDP with 35.1 per cent.
History: Both of this area’s former ridings, Westmount-Ville Marie and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine, elected all Liberals from 1997-2008. One of four ridings on the west side of Montreal that stayed with the Liberals in 2011, it contains most of the former riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, home to Liberal MP Warren Allmand from 1965 to 1997.
Demographics: The average income (as of the 2011 National Household Survey) is $54,309, highest in Quebec. English is the first language of 41.5 per cent of residents, making it the second most anglophone riding in the province.
