Winnipeggers walk for missing Thelma Krull

WINNIPEG – Exactly four weeks after Thelma Krull went missing, Winnipeggers gathered at her East Kildonan home to retrace her steps.

Family and community members joined together Saturday to search for the 57-year-old Winnipeg grandmother, leaving at 7:23 a.m., the same time Krull was last seen on surveillance video on July 11 as she headed out on her morning walk.

“For everything that she’s done for me, I should be out there helping find her,” said Krull’s friend of 30 years Paul MacDonald. “I’m still holding on to hope.”

Krull helped MacDonald restart his life in a wheel chair and now he won’t stop until he finds her. He is one of many friends still shocked and confused about how she could have disappeared.

“Since nothing has changed in terms of bringing her home, we want people to know we’re still out there,” said Neal Anderson who lives near Krull and helped organize the walk.

The group walked around Civic Park and other areas of Krull’s neighborhood talking with people who could have seen her, hoping to “jog a memory” or stumble across a clue.

The only clue they have so far are her glasses which were found by officers near Valley Gardens Community Centre, which is about 30 minutes from her home.

Officers insist it’s still an open and active missing person investigation led by homicide investigators. Krull’s friends aren’t giving up either.

“So far there hasn’t been anything so Im taking that as a good sign that shes still alive somewhere,” said MacDonald.
