REGINA – Some families on Rae street were evacuated early Tuesday morning after a house caught fire around 1:30 a.m.
“I grabbed my girlfriend and three-week old baby, dogs and we got out as quick as we could,” said neighbour Randy Gardine. “By the time I came back to look at the house it was fully engulfed in flames. I was kind of worried it was going to do some damage to the house that I reside in,” said neighbour Randy Gardine.
Acting Deputy Chief Dwaine Davidson said the fire started on a couch outside the front of the home and quickly spread to the basement.
Thankfully, the three people inside the house at the time escaped safely.
“We were there in just over four minutes. It went out fairly quickly but it was fully involved when we got to it because the couch was on fire,” said Davidson.
Investigators are treating the fire as suspicious and the case has been handed over to the Regina Police Service.
