“The City of Edmonton has the potential to see a light, non-severe thunderstorm this afternoon with a few lightning flashes and rumbles of thunder, a gusty wind and a brief (possibly heavy) downpour,” said Global’s Chief Weather Anchor Jesse Beyer on Wednesday morning.

“These cells will be fast moving and should leave the area almost as soon as they roll in.  The south side of Edmonton will likely see the bulk of this activity.”

Beyer said elevated risk for severe cells is concentrated to areas south, southwest and southeast of Edmonton.

“The biggest threat from these storms will be possible large hail and damaging straight-line wind gusts across the leading edge of the cells. Heavy rain is also expected for isolated areas.”
