EDMONTON — Three people were sent to hospital Sunday morning after a collision northwest of Edmonton.

At around 7:30 a.m., Morinville RCMP were called to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 37 and Highway 779 in Sturgeon County.

Officers said a Mazda was heading west on Highway 37 when it crossed the centre line and hit a truck that was heading east.

Three people inside the car were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

There were six people in the truck at the time, two adults and four children, but they were not injured.

Police are “actively investigating” alcohol as a possible factor in the collision.

The intersection was closed for several hours, but was reopened shortly before noon Sunday.
