WATCH: A fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at the Deerfoot Meadows Jysk store. Paul Haysom reports.
CALGARY – Plumes of black smoke could be seen from the Jysk store in the Deerfoot Meadows shopping centre on Wednesday afternoon, and fire officials remained on scene after 4 p.m.
A Jysk spokesperson said the fire started on the patio, and that everyone in the building at 33 Heritage Meadows Way was safely evacuated.

Calgary Fire Department spokesperson Carol Henke said the second-alarm fire was at the back of the building and was put out quickly. Henke said it had the potential to be very serious because of the proximity to nearby businesses. She said there was some damage to the outside of a neighbouring business.
