OLIVER – He’s an Okanagan man on a mission, helping feed roughly 1,600 children on the other side of the world.
Earl Lehman never knew how lucky he was until he went to the Philippines three years ago.
“They’ve got nothing,” he says, trying to choke back the tears, “and as I saw it, it just got me.”
Ever since he’s been helping feed the hungry in 16 villages, sending shipments of soup, apples and other supplies and even hand delivering those care packages once a year. Lehman receives a helping hand from the Okanagan Gleaners, who provides the food packages. The not-for-profit helps feed thousands of mouths around the world.
While Lehman wants to continue his crusade to feed Fillipino children, his doctor has now told him he’s no longer healthy enough to travel.
He’s hoping someone else will take the reins and visit the villages he’s helped feed.
Lehman also always welcomes donations for supplies. For details on how you can help, you can contact Lehman at: SimarA_7@outlook.com.
