PENTICTON — The SPCA branch in the South Okanagan-Similkameen has raised nearly $20,000 in one day, thanks to the generosity of the community.
Last weekend was the third annual Burger & Beer event at the Barking Parrot in Penticton.
“We are so grateful for the amazing support we received yet again from the local community,” says branch manager Corinne Ross. “All these funds stay right here at this branch and will help the abused, abandoned and neglected animals who come into our care.”
The annual event raised $7755.50 from ticket sales, 50/50 raffle and silent auction.
The Lake City Casino donated an additional $2,000.
To the branch manager’s surprise, a private donor stepped up with $10,000.
In total, $19,775.50 was raised.
