OKANAGAN — Wind power is coming to the Okanagan. BC Hydro has announced two wind farms are being constructed in the valley, one in Summerland the other in the Pennask area above Peachland. The operations will be built and managed by with White Rock-based developer Zero Emission Energy Developments, with the power sold back to the province at a fixed rate.
“I’m delighted to welcome a new wind project to Summerland – the first in our region,” says Penticton MLA Dan Ashton. “Wind technology is growing and advancing quickly. Big or small, each wind project in our province contributes to B.C.’s clean-energy future.”
A third wind farm is being constructed in Taylor. The projects are expected to produce energy by late 2016.
