REGINA – A Regina family is recovering from a terrifying ordeal after their home was stormed by a group of people Friday night.

“There was blood on the ground. There was glass everywhere, through the whole kitchen,” told Bridgette Cyr to Global Regina. “I haven’t slept yet. Every little noise, I’m looking out here.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Cyr said at least six women pushed their way into her daughter’s home on Wascana Street near 5th Avenue around 9:30 p.m. She said her family of eight was watching TV at the time.

One of the intruders smashed the front window with a sword.

“It was a large sword. It had a dragon handle and she was repeatedly smashing the window,” said Cyr. “I got really scared like they were going to come through the window and we were busy holding the door shut. It was a really really crazy night.”

The Regina Housing Authority boarded up the windows following the ordeal.

On Saturday morning, police reported two women were arrested following a break-and-enter attempt and that charges were pending.

Cyr said one of the women involved was her son’s ex-girlfriend; however she didn’t know any of the others. No one in her home was seriously injured.

“I couldn’t believe it. It was like out of a movie. It was horrible.”
