TORONTO – Apprenticeship programs in Ontario are getting a $55-million boost.

Premier Kathleen Wynne says the province wants to ensure that anyone who wants to pursue a skilled trade has that opportunity.

An apprenticeship enhancement fund that helps colleges train more people and invest in equipment is getting $23 million over two years.

A pre-apprenticeship training program that helps people considering a career in the skilled trades through in-class training and work placements is getting $13 million over two years.

An additional $19 million over three years is going to colleges to support equipment upgrades and lab time for apprenticeship sessions.
