Woman charged in violent Calgary carjacking

CALGARY – Police have laid charges against a woman accused in a violent carjacking earlier this month.

Officers were called to Marlborough Mall around 10 a.m. on April 1st for reports that a woman had forced a driver out of her vehicle at gun point.

The stolen vehicle still had one passenger inside at the time; a 48-year-old woman with cerebral palsy.

The woman was later located in the 5000 block of Marbank Drive S.E. where she was assessed by EMS and determined to be uninjured

The stolen vehicle was found on April 7th, when it was involved in a collision in the 1400 block of Memorial Drive N.W. Officers took both the female driver and a male passenger into custody.

Police have now charged 32-year-old Crystie Dawn Turbuck with the following:

  • theft of a motor vehicle
  • theft under $5,000
  • two counts of pointing a firearm
  • kidnapping
  • assault
  • possession of a weapon or imitation for a dangerous purpose
  • possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order

Turbuck has four outstanding criminal code warrants.

She has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015.
