Calgary wind warning ends Tuesday evening

CALGARY – Environment Canada issued a wind warning for the city of Calgary just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, and it ended just after 6 p.m.

Calgarians had been warned of strong winds that may cause damage, with gusts expected to peak around 90 km/h.

Environment Canada warned of damage to buildings, including roof shingles and windows, and urged drivers to adjust with changing road conditions.

Residents are reminded to avoid wooded areas in case of falling branches or trees and move to shelter if camping.

There were also wind warnings in effect for many other communities in southern Alberta, including Airdrie, Sundre, Okotoks, High River and Claresholm. They had also ended just after 6 p.m.
