OKANAGAN — The Okanagan company behind apples that don’t go brown says it looks forward to creating all kinds of the so-called Arctic fruit.
Neal Carter of Okanagan Specialty Fruit says the company has Arctic Granny Smith and Golden apples, and is now developing Gala and Fuji varieties.
He says a certain gene in the fruit is turned off to stop browning, but no chemicals are used.
