Deadly collision involving a scooter in Surrey

A woman is dead after a collision involving a mobility scooter in Surrey.

It happened at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday night.

Surrey RCMP say a four-wheeled scooter collided with a van at 96th Ave and King George Boulevard.

Emergency crews could be seen performing CPR at the scene.

The woman who was on the scooter at the time of the crash was taken to hospital, where she has succumbed to her injuries.

It’s not clear at this point whether she was in a marked crosswalk or if she had the right of way as she crossed the road.

The woman driving the van stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Officers have not said what factors are involved in the crash yet.

The intersection of 96th Ave and King George Boulevard was closed for a few hours, but has now been reopened.
