A funeral with full honours will be staged in Chilliwack for firefighter Brian Smyth today.
Smyth was a seven-year member of the Columbia Valley volunteer fire department.
Just over two weeks ago, he suffered a heart attack while fighting a house fire near Cultus Lake.
Fifty-seven-year-old Smyth spent several days on life support at Royal Columbian before passing peacefully in the presence of family and friends.
A sombre procession with firefighters from around the province will take place before the memorial service this afternoon.
There will be temporarily road closures between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The procession starts at 11 a.m.
