REGINA – The surgery schedule at a Regina hospital is back to normal after installation of equipment to speed up sterilization of medical instruments.

The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region says as of Monday, the surgical ward at Pasqua Hospital was at full capacity.

Sandy Euteneier, a health region spokeswoman, says Pasqua reduced its surgical load by 50 per cent while the equipment was being installed and tested between Feb. 2 and March 15.

Euteneier says the $250,000 machine will completely clean everything needed for a procedure within an hour.

She also says it has the potential to increase the number of operations done at Pasqua.
