WATCH: A massive blaze broke at the construction site Monday night where Old Peel Memorial Hospital once stood. Lama Nicolas has the details.
TORONTO – Firefighters are still on scene of a massive blaze that broke out Monday night at the site of a hospital under construction in Brampton.
Peel Regional Police said emergency crews were called to the fire at the site of the old Peel Memorial Hospital, located near Centre and Queen Streets shortly before 7:30 p.m.
Images from the scene showed flames and heavy smoke around a crane at the construction site.
No injuries were reported in the fire and crews also monitored the air quality, although officials said there was no health threat caused by the smoke.
The $530 million Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness is being built at the site of the old Peel hospital.
Construction on the project began last June and was slated for completion in the fall of 2016.
There’s no indication by early Tuesday on what started the fire.
