OTTAWA – An Ottawa man is in serious but stable condition in hospital after a large chunk of ice fell on top of him in the city’s downtown area.
Paramedics were called to the scene on Cooper Street around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The 56-year man had been walking on the sidewalk when a piece of ice weighing more than 90 kilograms fell from a building.
He was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries, including a deep cut to the back of his head, a possible concussion and a fractured collar bone.
