New Westminster supports ‘yes’ campaign ahead of transit plebiscite

New Westminster is the latest city to throw its support behind the ‘yes’ campaign in the upcoming transit plebiscite. John Daly reports.

Several New Westminster city officials voiced their support for the ‘yes’ side of the upcoming Metro Vancouver transit plebiscite.

Mayor Jonathan Cote says transportation is a top priority for the Metro Vancouver region, which is set to grow by an estimated 1 million people over the next 25 years.

“If all of those residents coming into our region had the same rates of car ownership that we traditionally have, you’d be able to line up all of those cars all the way from New Westminster to the middle of Canada.”
