It may be a big weekend for hockey in Halifax but there is another big event happening on ice with no sticks or pucks required and no fear being a prerequisite.  Red Bull Crashed Ice is once again holding qualifiers in our city as the search continues for the top 100 downhill skaters in the country. The adrenaline pumping competition has been popular for well over a decade and at 7:15am we’ll meet a local participant looking to book his ticket to Edmonton and compete in the Crashed Ice National Shootout. Game on!

Being single on Valentine’s Day does not mean you to have to be a shut in. At 7:45am we’ll tell you about the first ever Singles Appreciation Night hosted by The Coast. And if you don’t find your match – we’ll also tell you about a brand new local dating website that is sure to help you find that special someone.

At 8:15am we meet the talent behind the third and final entry into the Viola Desmond Singer/Songwriting Contest as Erin Costelo and Cyndi Cain stop by the red table. The dynamic duo have teamed up to write a powerful ballad in tribute of Desmond entitled “Carry On.” The winner of the contest  will be revealed on Friday night ahead of the first Heritage Day in Nova Scotia this year known as Viola Desmond Day.

And at 8:45am we’ll catch up with Stephanie Beaumont with Sea & Be Scene. She’ll have a few east coast entertainment suggestions for folks who may not be planning a big night out on the town this Valentine’s Day!.
