VANCOUVER – Police in Vancouver say a shoplifting arrest has led to more serious charges for one man.
On Jan. 26, loss prevention officers at the London Drugs, located at 3328 Kingsway, saw a man pick up several items and then allegedly walk past the cash registers without paying.
The man started running after leaving the store, but was caught by the officers and placed in handcuffs. During the brief struggle, police say staff told them the man kept reaching for a small bag he was carrying. When the police arrived and searched the bag, they found three semi-automatic handguns. Two of the guns were loaded and there was ammunition in the bag.
A 28-year-old man has now been charged with six firearms-related offences and three counts of carrying a concealed weapon. Police say he remains in custody until his next court appearance.
