TORONTO — Pop star Taylor Swift was back on social media Tuesday afternoon after a hack of her Twitter and Instagram accounts forced them offline.

Hackers posted two tweets asking Swift’s 51.4 million followers to follow @veriuser and @lizzard. Both those accounts have been suspended.

Lizard Squad is the group that claimed responsibility for a Christmas Day cyber-attack on gaming systems.

Swift reportedly learned of the hack of her Twitter account via a text from Paramore singer Hayley Williams.

On her Tumblr page, Swift advised fans: “Don’t worry. Twitter is deleting the hacker tweets and locking my account until they can figure out how this happened and get me new passwords.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The singer added: “Never a dull moment.”
