KEY LAKE, Sask. – The Transportation Safety Board is investigating a non-fatal helicopter crash in northern Saskatchewan. Initial reports say the Eurocopter AS-350 hit the ground about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday near the remote community of Key Lake.
The pilot, who was the only person on board, was being treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The aircraft, operated by Airspan Helicopters, was moving power-line cables suspended on a long line. Initial reports say the helicopter, which was badly damaged, hit the ground when it couldn’t release the load.
Key Lake is about 740 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
