WATCH: Goaltender Zach Fucale and team captain Curtis Lazar expect a much different game against Slovakia in the semifinals than the one they played to open the tournament.
TORONTO – Zach Fucale will start in goal for Canada in the world junior semifinals against Slovakia.
Fucale made 14 saves to shut out Denmark in the quarter-finals but was barely tested.
In three starts this tournament, the 19-year-old Fucale has allowed just one goal and his save percentage is .982.
If Canada beats Slovakia, the gold-medal game is Monday.
It’s uncertain if the back-to-back has anything to do with coach Benoit Groulx’s decision.
Eric Comrie has started Canada’s other two games, allowing a total of three goals against Germany and the United States.
