KELOWNA – Going to the courthouse for a date with the judge with a bag of drugs and weapons is not a wise move.
Charges have now been laid after an incident in August in Kelowna when a man refused to allow sheriffs to search his backpack for public safety reasons.
The backpack was later found abandoned on courthouse property. Police say it contained a small switch blade, a knife, bear spray, an extendable baton, 13.8 grams of marihuana, 14 grams of hash, three tablets of Hydromorph Contin and a variety of drug paraphernalia.
Robert Eugene Thompson, 34, of West Kelowna is charged with six offenses including possessing a prohibited weapon and controlled substances.
