WINNIPEG – A fire in a North End house woke up nine people on Thursday morning.
All nine people, including four children, escaped safely from the Pritchard Avenue home before fire crews reached the scene.
Fire crews were called just before 6 a.m. They quickly gained control of the fire in the two-storey wood-frame house despite flames shooting between the two floors.
The fire started on the second floor and may have been caused by crews working at the home in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue, firefighters said. But the cause is still under investigation.
Paramedics checked the nine occupants as a precaution but no injuries were reported.
The home sustained fire damage on the first and second floors and smoke and water damage throughout. An estimate of damage couldn’t be provided.
