EDMONTON — About 100 Edmontonians rallied in Churchill Square Tuesday afternoon in response to the Ferguson grand jury’s decision on Monday not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
The decision sparked protests across the U.S., during which stores and cars were vandalized and gunshots rang out.

More peaceful protests have since sprung up across North America, including Alberta’s capital.
“We organized tonight to stand in solidarity with Michael Brown’s family,” said Kassia Haynes. “We want to stand up against what we think is a great injustice and bring light to the fact that people all over the world care about this issue.”
Haynes added that Canada is definitely not immune to racism.
“It is not an American issue, it is not a Ferguson issue, it’s a world issue.”
