Montreal – The arson squad is investigating after a suspicious fire broke out shortly after 1 a.m., at the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and Legendre Street East.
Police responding to a burglar alarm noticed a broken window and flames inside La Cantina restaurant and immediately alerted the fire department.
Firefighters rapidly extinguished the flames and damage was limited. No injuries were reported.
La Cantina was the site of a brazen murder in 2009 when Frederico Del Peschio, an associate of the Rizzuto crime family and owner of the restaurant, was murdered behind his establishment.
