SYDNEY, N.S. – Cape Breton police have arrested a man after a worker was hit by a vehicle at a construction site.

The worker was handling traffic control Thursday at the corner of Sidella Drive and Reeves Street in Sydney.

Witnesses told police a driver ignored the worker’s direction to stop, accelerated his vehicle and hit the worker.

The worker was taken to hospital with minor injuries and later released.

A 41-year-old Sydney man was arrested a short distance away without incident.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
