It is a big weekend for country music in The Maritimes but nothing like we’re going to see come 2015 when Country Comes East! That’s the slogan for the 2015 Canadian Country Music Association Awards being held in Halifax next September. At 7:15 we’ll talk up the big event with CCMA President Don Green And as a bonus, since multiple CCMA Award winner and Country Superstar Brett Kissel is in town opening for Brad Paisley, we’d figured why not get Brett on the show too! It’s all happening!
At 7:40 we’ll get a preview of this week’s edition of Global’s investigative program 16 x 9. This week the team will take a look at one of Canada’s most toxic sites: Yellowknife’s Giant Mine project which could end up being the most expensive remediation projects in Canadian history.
And Country Music hour continues on The Morning News with a performance from Doc Walker! The Canadian country music veterans are in town on the #BandsontheRun tour at Casino Nova Scotia Friday night. We’ll have a quick chat with the boys about the tour and hear a tune from their latest record #the8th.
Tom Clark, host of West Block, will drop by at 8:15 to help tee-up this weekend’s 6th annual Halifax International Security Forum. He’ll help to identify some hot-button issues that might be up for discussion during the weekend gathering and he’ll also give us some insight into some of the politics that unfold at an event this size.
