Prince William lends support to West Africa Ebola fight in new video

Prince William has a released a video on The British Monarchy’s official YouTube channel, voicing his concern for the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

In the video, the prince said he’s been following the developments in West Africa closely. He calls out an initiative by a group of local filmmakers called Future View, who created the video “Eboal is Real” to help spread practical advice and information on avoiding getting and spreading the disease. He also praises the efforts of the healthcare workers in West Africa, saying they “have been doing a tremendous job.”

Prince Williams then urges the people in West Africa to “please listen to the healthcare workers, they know what they’re talking about. And, [I] just wanted to say, keep safe, the world is thinking about you.”

As the British Monarchy becomes increasingly present on social media, we are seeing them communicate in new ways. The YouTube video of Prince William shows him appearing to be speaking unscripted, and it was filmed “quickly in an office at Kensington Palace.”

The prince is heavily invested in humanitarian efforts Africa. Recently a video was released that shows him teaming up with the makers of popular mobile game Angry Birds to bring attention to the poaching of endangered animals in Africa, part of a new United for Wildlife campaign.
