VANCOUVER – RCMP officers in Langley received a strange call on Monday afternoon after an unusual visitor showed up at a francophone school.
‘Pork Chop’ the pig escaped from a farm a few doors down after someone left a gate open. He ended up looking for food at École des Voyageurs at 216 Street and 88 Avenue in Langely Township.
RCMP were called out to help corral the 400-pound pig and it took about two hours to capture him.
Marie Fraser, from École des Voyageurs, said they had to declare a ‘Code Yellow’ to get all the kids inside the school immediately.
“Code Yellow, big pig in school yard,” she said. “He was a super nice pig, we miss him already, but he was 400 pounds, there’s a lot of strength behind that, and I think he really wanted to learn French and stay here. He had no interest at all in going home.”
Pork Chop is now back on the farm.
