SAINT-ALEXIS, Que. – A woman is dead and her partner is seriously injured after a car smashed into their bedroom in a community 60 kilometres north of Montreal.

Quebec provincial police say a driver lost control of his vehicle and it ran into the residence, driving all the way into the couple’s bedroom.

Both victims, in their 30s, were rushed to hospital where the woman died from her injuries.

The man is in serious but stable condition.

The couple’s three children weren’t hurt.

Alcohol and speed are suspected as factors in the accident early Sunday in the community of Saint-Alexis, in Quebec’s Lanaudiere region.

The driver, who is in his 20s, also suffered injuries and was taken to hospital.
