UPDATE: The family of Matt Adams says he has been found and is safe.
KELOWNA – Concern is growing for a West Kelowna man missing in Nepal following a series of deadly avalanches.
29-year-old Matt Adams was hiking the Annapurna Mountains when the slides came barreling down earlier this week.
At least 27 people have been confirmed dead, including four Canadians.
About 70 people are still missing.
Adams is described by family as an experienced outdoorsman who traveled to Nepal to hike the 200-kilometer trek around the Annapurna Mountains.
He contacted his wife Ria Enns last Friday and sent her a photo of the guest house he was staying in that night.
Three days later a massive blizzard hit the Annapurna stretch.
Enns tells Global Okanagan she hasn’t heard from her husband since.
She says it’s very unusual for Adams to keep her in the dark about his whereabouts.
She’s hoping he’s simply stranded in a guest house somewhere without help or internet access.
Enns has contacted the Foreign Affairs Bureau in Ottawa but so far the department has no information about her husband.
His mother, Heather Adams, says she is worried sick about her son.
She says she’s waiting by the phone and constantly checking social media sites like Facebook for any word on her son’s whereabouts.
