Watch: Raw video of two fires in Montreal on Tuesday night
MONTREAL — Firefighters were battling two overnight blazes in Pointe-aux-Trembles and Hochelaga Maisonneuve on Tuesday night.
The fire in HoMa started at around 4:30 a.m. on Chambly St. near La Fontaine St. and forced 30 residents from their homes.
A man hurt his hand trying to escape from his balcony and another resident was transferred to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire apparently started in a kitchen in the third floor and spread to an adjoining apartment and the roof.
The second fire started at around 2:30 a.m. in the basement garage of a house on 18th Ave. and Rene Levesque Blvd. in Pointe Aux Trembles.
There was one person in the home who was able to get out of the building.
The cause of the fire is not known.
