SASKATOON – A man caught swimming in the South Saskatchewan River on Sunday has a date in court.
Police and the fire department’s water rescue team were called to the river around 11:30 a.m. after someone reported a man was swimming between the University and Broadway bridges.
The 34-year-old man was spotted swimming on the east shore where he was pulled from the water. He was not in distress.
Fire officials say the water temperature was 13 C.
Along with the mandatory court date for breaking the city’s bylaw prohibiting swimming in the river within city limits, the unnamed man was given a ticket.
