CALGARY – Organizers walked in remembrance of 18-year-old Colton Crowshoe, after his body was found in a northeast retention pond in July.
Family and friends marched to city hall Saturday, in an effort to send a message about how the investigation into Crowshoe’s murder was handled.
The teen was first reported missing on July 6, his body was recovered three weeks later in a northeast pond.
Friends gathered Saturday and remembered Crowshoe as part of the march.
“Colton was always caring,” explains Crowshoe’s friend, Jacob LaPlante. “Just an all around honest and good person.”
Crowshoe’s family has been critical of the Calgary Police Service’s initial response when alerted of Crowshoe’s disappearance.
“He was dismissed, ” says Crowshoe’s Aunt, Danielle. “The police justified everything as to why they couldn’t do more.”
ASIRT launched an investigation after family members accused CPS of racism in the case.
The walk in Crowshoe’s honour was planned to coincide with an upcoming meeting of the Calgary Police Commission Tuesday.
The family has extended the invite to the public to join the march, which starts Saturday morning.
