Justin Di Ciano wins Toronto’s Ward 5 Etobicoke-Lakeshore

TORONTO – Justin Di Ciano has won Ward 5, Etobicoke-Lakeshore, in the 2014 Toronto election, filling the seat left vacant by Peter Milczyn.

Di Ciano lost to Milczyn in the 2010 Toronto election by just 109 votes. In the 2014, Di Ciano won with more than 54 per cent of the vote (with 46 out of 47 polls reporting). Also running was Kinga Surma, a former aide to Milczyn, who finished with more than 13 per cent of the vote.

James Maloney was appointed to represent the ward in July, after Milczyn resigned. Milczyn represented Ward 5 since 2000. He resigned his seat to run in the August 2013 provincial byelection, losing to Doug Holyday by just over 1,500 votes. Milczyn and Holyday faced off again in the 2014 Ontario election, this time with Milczyn winning for the Liberals.
