Frost advisories have been issued for central and southern Saskatchewan including Saskatoon and Regina as well as across most of the southern prairies provinces.
A ridge of high pressure over southern Saskatchewan is bringing a large cool airmass over the province.
Skies have cleared over western areas of the province and are expected to clear over eastern Saskatchewan into Thursday evening and overnight.
The combination of clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to drop below freezing with lows between minus 1 and minus 4 by early Friday morning over the warning area.
Crop damage may occur in frost-prone areas.
Environment Canada recommends taking preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.
For many areas, this is the fourth night in a row frost advisories have been in place.
Frost advisories are issued by Environment Canada when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
