WINNIPEG – Police have made an arrest in Winnipeg’s latest homicide after an unconscious man was found at Cumberland Avenue and Spence Street early Saturday morning.
Matthew James Sellner of Winnipeg has been charged with second degree murder for allegedly stabbing a 57-year-old man.
Officers say Helder Serpa had suspicious injuries and later confirmed he was stabbed multiple times in the upper body.
Sepra was taken to hospital where he died.
He had been walking to his house in the area when he was allegedly confronted by Sellner and an altercation broke out.
Sellner was still in the same area when officers questioned him and took him into custody. Police say they have had consistent run-ins with Sellner for a decade.
This is the 16th homicide in Winnipeg for 2014.
