Image of Australian ‘TMNT’ poster pulled from social media
TORONTO — A poster for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that shows the titular turtles falling from a burning building — and a September 11 release date — was quickly yanked from Twitter on Tuesday.
Paramount Pictures Australia tweeted an image of the official poster for the movie (which opens Aug. 8 in North America) with the message: “Check out the official poster for #TMNT in cinemas September 11!”
The Turtles tweet was deleted and the image removed from Facebook after some people on social media suggested it was “too soon.”
“The most poorly judged poster and date combo imaginable,” tweeted Matthew Hamby. “Well done.”

So yeah, I just woke up to Paramount Australia debuting a TMNT poster of the Turtles jumping out of an exploding NYC building for 9/11…

@ParamountAU Really? 9/11? Jumping out of an exploding building?

Not everyone saw the harm.
Chelsea Nolan posted this message: “Dear internet, this is a movie poster. For release in Australia. You guys know they’re TURTLES…right?”
