LAVAL – Police are investigating after a fire destroyed four cars and severely damaged two home garages in Laval early Saturday morning.
According to police, residents on Sinclair street were woken up just after midnight by the sound of a loud bang and flames rising from across the street.
The blaze quickly spread to a connecting driveway.
Laval police are still investigating the cause of the accident, but say they suspect it was a targeted arson attack.
One man in his forties was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
He apparently lives in the downstairs apartment.
The man, who is known to police, was arrested for outstanding warrants and will be questioned by police.
