TORONTO – A grieving Ohio father asked strangers to Photoshop a picture of his baby daughter who passed away at six weeks old, and the response was heart-warming.
Nathen Steffel’s daughter died last week from complications from a liver tumour.
Over the weekend, Steffel took to Reddit and posted a simple request.
“My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital,” he wrote. “Since she was in the hospital her whole life we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?”
The response was overwhelming.

Steffel’s post received nearly 3,000 comments and users submitted hundreds of rendered images and portraits of the child, free of medical equipment.

“I didn’t really want all the publicity, I just wanted a picture,” Steffel told TODAY “What I received was a whole lot of love and support from complete strangers.”
Steffel thanked Redditors for the overwhelming response.

“This is really amazing. Everyone you have made my day,” he wrote. “All I wanted was a nice picture. What I received was a lot of love and support from a bunch of strangers. Along with a lot of great photos, drawings and paintings. Thanks everyone!”
