WATCH: Unfortunate Luis Suarez ad becomes selfie sensation

A sports advert featuring Uruguay football striker Luis Suarez has become the latest attraction for football fans visiting Copacabana Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, during the football World Cup.

The advert shows a larger than life photograph of Suarez baring his teeth.

Suarez infamously bit the shoulder of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini a group game earlier in the tournament and fans, keen to re-enact the incident, posed and took pictures with the poster on Thursday.

Fans from a host of countries gathered along the beach and snapped photos of Suarez “biting” various body parts including arms, shoulders and heads.

The Uruguayan was banned from all football related activities for four months by FIFA and given a nine match ban which will apply to all competitive internationals.

As a result, he will play no further part in the World Cup.

Most fans thought the ruling from FIFA was fair but Jose Luiz from Argentina had a different interpretation of the punishment.

He said that the ban suited Brazil’s interests with the hosts in the same half of the knockout stages as Uruguay, and that the decision was made to prevent Suarez from playing against Luis Felipe Scolari’s men.
