WATCH: Cuba Gooding Jr. makes strange appearance at NHL Awards

TORONTO — Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. raised some eyebrows Tuesday night with a bizarre appearance at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas.

The 46-year-old star, a presenter at the event, struggled to read the TelePromTer and randomly shouted certain phrases and names.

Gooding Jr. introduced a 9-year-old cancer survivor as a “Boston Bruins flan” and referred to “these very three special awards.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

After award winner Andrew Ference of the Edmonton Oilers thanked his wife, Gooding Jr. looked at her in the audience and said: “I’d like to thank your wife, too, Andrew. Thank you baby.”

The Jerry Maguire star also kicked a box off the stage, put his hand on Mark Messier’s bald head and urged Messier and Adam Graves to join him in making “a reverse Oreo.”

“That’s right — Double Stuff,” Gooding Jr. said as he stood between the two men. “Don’t grab my a**. Get your hand off my a**.”
