Vernon, BC – A Vernon grandmother has gotten her wish. Her 9-year-old grandson, Landen Heggs, will be back in the 4th grade in September.
Shelley Beale says Landen’s school refused to hold him back despite the fact the 4th grader is reading at a grade 2 level.
Beale, who is Landen’s legal guardian, ended up appealing to the school district’s superintendent asking that he be kept in grade 4.
The school district says kids are only held back or skipped to the next grade in exceptional circumstances and each case is considered individually.
