Peter Milczyn has won the riding of Etobicoke-Lakeshore for the Liberals, defeating opponent Doug Holyday.
Milczyn won 47.2 per cent of the popular vote as of 10:18 PM election night, compared to PC candidate Holyday’s 33.3 per cent.
Holyday had won this seat in an August 2013 byelection, in which he faced off in a close race against Milczyn.
Milczyn, a current Toronto city councillor, chairs the city’s planning and growth management committee.
Holyday, also a former Toronto city councillor and former mayor of Etobicoke, first won the riding with significant support from Toronto Mayor Rob Ford during his campaign. There has been less involvement from the Ford brothers this time around, with the Mayor in a rehab program.
NDP candidate P.C. Choo, a former school board trustee, came in a distant third with 13.2 per cent of the vote.
